Opportunity Scan / Needs Analysis
In order to
understand your needs we do an audit of your current situation. This may
take the form of a one to two day audit at your site involving a number
of meetings with individuals from your organization involved in the procurement
of components (design, engineering, costing, purchasing, production, production
control, quality, logistics etc). Typically the information needed to
start a supplier search covers the following areas.
- Product definition: For
each product to be quoted we require four sets of the latest drawing
and four product samples. If drawings are not available we can arrange
to have a set prepared from samples.
- Level of quality: Present inspection criteria,
basic requirements, past problems, unique requirements
- Total cost analysis: what are your cost goals?
What are your current costs to produce the part? What are your competitors
prices? What are your overall expectations?
- Yearly volume: Monthly (yearly) production needs,
past history volume, lot sizes, stock levels, present sales forecast
- Scheduling considerations: present and planned
production
- Delivery logistics: Special Import / Export regulations
that may apply, particular packaging and shipping needs, duties and
taxes
Following the data gathering session, we use our extensive
knowledge of the leading players in India and our sourcing network to
identify manufacturing facilities specially qualified to meet the quality,
prices, and delivery that you require.
At this point our intention is to obtain a few initial
quotes from reliable sources in order to assess the opportunity for cost
reduction that sourcing from India provides.
